Celebrating the Gift

January 2020

Christian Greetings in 2020!

The threshold of the new year marks the beginning of the Seminary’s 75th Anniversary. We marvel at what God has done in the history of the seminary and Church of the Nazarene through NTS leadership, professors and faithful and effective alumni around the world.

This edition of the eConnection contains links to exciting anniversary events and historic seminary photos. We are collecting NTS alumni stories and photos, too. The new year opens with an opportunity for all to celebrate with NTS by participating in Seminary Sunday, January 26, at your local churches or individually.

As we seek God’s direction and assistance in the coming years, I think of the Magi and their faith journey. Like them, we also seek to worship and honor Christ above all else. Like them, we wish to give of ourselves and our gifts as a part of the Gospel story.

This is how the Gospel, from the very beginning, has spread—from God giving himself through his Son, to widows offering hospitality to the prophets of old, to the devoted followers of Jesus giving their attention and their means, to students and ministers pouring themselves out in study and work, to those who support local pastors/preachers of the Good News. There are many other such partnerships; the Gospel mission is a cooperative effort, relying upon reciprocal gifts for propagation. Those who receive from the Gospel give for the furtherance of the Gospel (Galatians 6:6). It is a case of storing up treasure where the heart is (Matthew 6:19-21) and trusting God to provide if we seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33).

To the many who support NTS through prayers and gifts, we say “Thank You!” To explore giving options or give today, please visit https://www.nts.edu/give/.

Here are just a few ways to support the Gospel mission at NTS:

  • Participate in this month’s Seminary Sunday
  • Give a one-time gift or become a Seminary Sustainer by setting up a recurring gift
  • Start or give to a scholarship
  • Give stocks, bonds or property
  • Include NTS in your estate planning
  • Refer a student

From 1945 to 2020 and beyond, NTS is passionate about preparing faithful and effective ministers of the Gospel. Look what God has already done! Let’s look to the future together with great faith and vision!
