Community Formation

NTS is passionate about the formation of the hearts and minds of students, faculty, and staff in the likeness of Jesus Christ. Our faculty infuse every class with Christian formational practices. In addition, the NTS community gathers together at key times for worship, community conversation, learning, shared meals, and times of service. Gatherings are often streamed live for those unable to attend on-campus events. Additionally, selected gatherings are recorded and placed on the Community Formation channel and in the Center for Pastoral Leadership’s lifelong learning video library.

Director of Student Life, Rev. Dana Preusch, functions as the campus chaplain. She is available to students as they seek to clarify their call, struggle with doubts and questions, find an advocate, pursue practical help, or simply strive to balance the challenging demands of seminary life. Dana can offer students encouragement, prayer, spiritual direction, and resourcing, either through informal conversation or by appointment (in-person or Zoom).

NTS Student Life Coordinators (SLC) work with the Director of Student Life to create meaningful community building and spiritual formation experiences for NTS students. The Student Life Coordinators for 2021-2022 are JJ Allison, Hannah Jones-Nelson, and John Wakefield.
