NTS is pleased to announce the establishment of the Rev. Dr. Janet and Rev. Roger Williams Endowed Scholarship.

The Williams family and Sun City Church of the Nazarene partnered to fund this scholarship in memory of Janet and in honor of Roger. NTS Trustee, Dr. Howard Hendrick, is the Williams’ son-in-law and helped facilitate the creation of this scholarship. The scholarship will be designated to a married couple attending seminary or to a woman preparing for a ministry of preaching.

Janet Smith (NTS 1950) and Roger Williams (NTS 1952) met at Eastern Nazarene College and continued their graduate education at NTS, both earning a M.Div. Janet later earned a Doctor’s degree from Denver Theological Seminary. Roger and Janet pastored churches in IL, NJ, AZ and OK. While pastoring at Norman, OK, Janet taught at what is now Southern Nazarene University and Roger earned a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in Library Science. Both then went to Pasadena, California where Janet taught, and Roger assisted with the library for what is now Point Loma Nazarene University. In 1976, they moved again to Colorado Springs, CO where Roger became the head librarian and Janet taught at Nazarene Bible College for nearly 20 years. Both were gifted preachers. Roger lives in Sun City, AZ.
