Due to the continued impact of COVID, Nazarene Theological Seminary has established the following operations plans for the spring 2021 semester:

Academic Calendar:
The spring 2021 Important Dates remain as scheduled: 1/18 semester start date, 3/8-13 spring break, and 5/1 commencement.

Courses: 

  1. Weekly/block courses will meet synchronously at the scheduled times via Zoom.
  2. Online courses will continue as scheduled.
  3. Hybrid courses will be offered with a tentative face-to-face the final week of the semester. Updates will be communicated with a final decision by March.
  4. DMin Site Visits will tentatively be moved to July, in-person and on-site. Updates will be communicated with a final decision by March.

Note: Spring 2021 registration opens 10/26/20

Lectures:
The Grider-Winget Lectures with Dr. Willie Jennings will be postponed until spring 2022. The previously scheduled Mercer Lectures with Dr. Sondra Wheeler will be rescheduled as a virtual event for fall 2021 or 2022. Specific date TBD.

Commencement:
Commencement will occur as scheduled on May 1. While the current plan is to hold commencement on campus, either in the J.B. Memorial Chapel or outside, NTS administration will continue to monitor health mandates and recommendations and determine, by March, if it will shift to a virtual venue. Student Assistance:
Two initiatives have been launched to assist students affected financially by the pandemic: Covid Relief and Covid Relief (Technology).

In light of further developments surrounding COVID-19, NTS has made the following incremental adjustments to our campus operations in an effort to protect and care for our staff, students, and the public.

  • The physical campus will be closed until April 3rd. April 27th (Updated 3/24/20)
  • Hours of virtual operation will be 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. NTS staff will continue to be available to respond during these times by phone or email. In light of recent developments surrounding COVID-19, NTS has made the following determinations regarding operations and upcoming events:

  1. All classes will be moved to videoconferencing via Zoom for the remainder of the semester.
  2. All on-campus events, (gathering chapels, morning prayers, Pastors Day, Corlett Holiness Sermons, Schwanz/Hahn Retirement, Graduate Chapel, Commencement) are canceled for the remainder of the semester.
  3. Commencement will not take place on campus. Instead, a pre-recorded video presentation will be broadcast online on or near May 2. More details will be released at a later date.
  4. The NTS campus and library will be closed to the public until further notice. It will remain open for student and employee access, mail and package deliveries, and limited appointments during the hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Thursday.
  5. Determinations about student and alumni travel events will be determined at a later date and communicated to those who are registered.
