I have mentored leaders for the Eurasia Region for over 38 years, as a missionary there, responsible for education, leadership development, etc. I don't know yet when I will retire, but when I do, I'd like to be able to help young people bound for ministry to understand the imperative of service over success in ministry, and to help them discover the minister into which God wants to form them.Impactful Books
Palmer, Parker. Let Your Life Speak. Palmer unpacks the trajectories of one's life based upon seemingly unrelated interests and skill sets from early in life that prove to contribute to one's calling and ministry influence.
Harris, Maria. Teaching and Religious Imagination. Harris presents a cycle of religious imagination that helps a person to learn and to become the person God is seeking to form. Every educator needs to read this book!
Mulholland, Robert. Invitation to a Journey. Mulholland gives what I believe to be the best definition of spiritual formation that extends that formation beyond oneself, "for the sake of others." A timely lesson for all who are caught up in postmodern individualism, even in their spiritual development.
