Why Mentoring?

I want to use my experience in ministry to help others avoid mistakes I’ve made, but also help shape their understanding of our purposes in ministry. For church planters I want to set expectations for them, help them understand God’s vision for their church, and provide practical steps that help them succeed. Additionally, pastoring can be lonely but for church planters that is often exacerbated because they are building a foundation and recruiting their team. That first year it is key to staying connected to mentors and coaches, as well as a spiritual director who may or may not be the same person. Finally, my degree in organizational leadership gives me a unique set of tools to lend them for practical application to navigate conflict, lead organizational change, and shape organizational culture.

Impactful Books

Invitation to a Journey Robert Mulholland. The book helped me understand how God created me in unique ways and how best to use my personality to best connect with God.

A New Kind of Christian/Brian Mcclaren. It helped me break out of my fundamentalist view of God.

Dark night of the Soul/St. John of the cross. Helped me understand how my darkest nights can be opportunities to grow closer to God and shape me in important ways.
