Financial Literacy Workshop

February 15, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

FINANCIAL LITERACY WORKSHOP BANNER

NTS Student Event: This 2-hour intensive training will focus on three areas:

  • The Past – what are the student’s understandings and practices with money as well as how was the use of money demonstrated in their home and church of origin?  Also, attention will be given to the current debt load (educational debt and consumer debt) of an average American graduate student.
  • The Present – what is a Biblical understanding of money and possessions?  The focus will be on people as stewards of what God has provided.  Time will also be spent to identify the harmful practices now which can lead to problems in the future (credit card debt, payday loans, excessive student loan debt, etc).
  • The Future – what does the future landscape look like for Church-based and Non-Profit based organizations?  What steps can be taken now to begin building a financial foundation for retirement?  What are the benefits and challenges of bi-vocational ministry?  How can a “gig economy” approach to funding ministry enhance the student’s future ministry?

There is no cost to the workshop. First-year students enrolled at NTS who complete the workshop will be eligible for a $225 tuition scholarship towards their next academic semester at NTS. Current students are welcomed to attend the workshop, however, the tuition scholarship can only be offered to first-year students.

Registrants will receive a private Zoom Videoconference link whereby they can join the presentation at the appointed time. Questions? Contact Dana Preusch at [email protected].
