NTS is pleased to announce a forthcoming refocusing and rebranding of the NTS Center for Pastoral Leadership (CPL).
In February of 2022, NTS will officially relaunch the CPL with the name “Praxis” – a term used to describe a church’s ongoing life that moves between study/reflection and engagement/action; each movement informs the other. This strategic renaming will broaden the CPL’s scope to better serve the life of the Church in the 21st Century.
Nazarene Theological Seminary’s vision to provide lifelong learning and encourage leadership in the local church became a reality with the formation of the Center for Pastoral Leadership in 2014. Under the leadership of Dr. Jesse Middendorf and the Rev. Dana Preusch, the Center has provided thousands of hours of lifelong learning and thoughtful resources, events, and support to Nazarene clergy in the USA/Canada region and beyond. Praxis will build on and expand this work.
Those who have followed the Center’s ministry will continue to find targeted areas of content and learning initiatives under Praxis that will resource Nazarene clergy while broadening the scope to include Nazarene laity and like-minded non-Nazarenes, ministering to churches in the Kansas City area and beyond.
Dr. David Sharpes, Associate Professor of Christian Ministry and Smith/Cooper Chair in Evangelism and Christian Witness, has been named as the Director of Praxis. Hear more of Dr. Sharpes’ story here.
Watch for more details and follow the current CPL Facebook Page for updates on this transition. NTS is excited to creatively resource the local Church’s life through the voices of NTS faculty and practitioners in the Wesleyan tradition from across the USA and Canada.
NOTE: Current subscribers to the CPL’s lifelong video library will continue to receive access to the CPL’s full video library and other subscriber benefits.
