Nazarene Theological Seminary is pleased to welcome Rev. Danilo Aguilar as its new Admissions Recruiter. He brings a rich background in leadership, cross-cultural ministry, and communication to the role.

Rev. Aguilar was born in the Los Angeles area to Salvadoran immigrant parents and grew up in the diverse community of Pasadena, California. His faith journey began at the Iglesia del Nazareno in Pasadena, where he developed a deep love for people, ministry, and the Church of the Nazarene, before leaving to pursue his education.

He earned a degree in philosophy from the University of La Verne in 2005 and completed a Master of Theological Studies at NTS in 2008. After seminary, his passion for community engagement led him into organizing and development work. In 2014, he earned a Master of Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Over the years, he has pastored, organized, and planted churches both in the U.S. and abroad. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Rev. Aguilar has held various ministry roles in diverse cultural contexts. His work in the nonprofit sector has included leadership as a community developer and program director. In 2023, he launched a new church plant in the Kansas City area, now a vibrant and growing congregation.

His move into admissions is a natural extension of his calling. “I’ve always loved walking with people through life and faith,” he said. “Recruiting is about more than numbers—it’s about telling stories, creating space for belonging, and helping people discern where God is calling them. As an NTS graduate, I’m excited to help students from many backgrounds consider our seminary.”

Darin Davis, Director of Admissions, expressed her enthusiasm about his arrival. “Danilo brings warmth, strong relational and cross-cultural skills, and a deep commitment to ministry,” she said. “Whether he’s networking, listening, or mentoring, he will meet students where they are—offering both encouragement and practical guidance.”

An ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene, Rev. Aguilar lives in the Kansas City area with his wife, Emily, a family therapist, and their three young children. He is also pursuing doctoral studies at Northwest Nazarene University.

Please join NTS in welcoming Rev. Danilo Aguilar as he helps shape the next generation of pastoral leaders.

Prospective students interested in master’s or doctoral degree programs may contact Rev. Danilo Aguilar at 816.268-5446 or Danilo.Aguilar@nts.edu.
