Many In-Service students at Nazarene Theological Seminary quickly find themselves a part of a welcoming and engaging camaraderie, working and studying alongside like-minded students who have sensed the need for graduate-level training for ministry. The In-Service experience at NTS is truly unique, combining the intentionality of graduate school with the professional development of a high-level conference or seminar. Because we’re asked so many times what the experience is actually like, we’ve put together this sketch of what the typical module experience might include:
| 6 weeks before class |
Check book lists, order texts and read one book before class begins |
|
| 4 weeks before class |
Write a paper on the book you read, post it to Blackboard |
|
| During module class (9 days) |
Morning module from 8:00-12:15, lunch with friends, study during afternoon, dinner with friends, evening module from 5:30-9:45. |
|
| 4 weeks after class |
Have 2 more books read. A paper will usually be due around this time. Online conversations ongoing with classmates and professor. |
|
| 8 weeks after class |
Online discussions continuing, other small assignments due. |
|
| 12 weeks after class |
Final exam or term paper due. |
|
*This is only an estimated sketch. Please refer to syllabus for exact schedule.
With the addition of an online course, this schedule will allow In-Service students to complete 9 credits per semester (Fall, Spring or Summer).
