STUDENT SPOTLIGHTS
Below, two current students share how NTS is impacting their current ministry assignments:
REV. JOHN RAMSEY
- M.Div. Degree; Residential Student
- Projected Graduation Date: Winter 2011
- Co-Pastor, Canaan Hill Church of the Nazarene (Lawson, MO)
and Richmond Church of the Nazarene (Richmond, MO)
- “After graduating with an undergraduate degree, I knew I needed more formation, and NTS would be an important place to receive further education in the way of pastoral ministry. I received a call to pastor a church and began doing so a month before my first class at NTS. The integration of the two have been necessary for me over the last five years.”
- “The life and work of study at NTS is deeply related to the work of the church. I am really convinced NTS is for the sake of the church. Everything from theology classes to pastoral care classes are integrated weekly into the life of God’s people, preaching the word, etc. Conversations from the classroom and readings for class directly influence the way the life of the church is patterned. Similarly, the church influences how books are read and the lens through which learning is absorbed.
- “NTS has convinced me that God’s primary way of working in and through the world today is the church and that it’s the highest calling to serve the church as pastor and to be committed to her. Seminary reminds us the church is not only an option but is the place that the Spirit has been working since Christ.”
- “I cannot imagine life right now, these beginning years of pastoral ministry, without the weaving together of the classroom and the church.”
REV. EDDY FROST
- M.Div. Degree; In-Service Student
- Projected Graduation Date: 2012
- Bi-vocational Senior Pastor,
Londonderry Church of the Nazarene (Hudson, NH)
- “For me, NTS represents a way to obtain a first-class theological education without having to leave my bi-vocational work and ministry. The module program has allowed me access to NTS.”
- “I get to study alongside a wide range of people. The diversity of the student population is really enriching.”
- "A few reasons I enjoy the time I spend at NTS: very good for making friends; the degree is within the reach of anybody with an undergraduate degree; the staff has been very approachable ; NTS has such a supportive environment; the program is affordable."
