NTS Professor Dr. Edwin H. Robinson has accepted MidAmerica Nazarene University's invitation to become its next president. He was elected Saturday, March 5 during a special meeting by the university's Board of Trustees. Robinson will assume duties officially on July 1, 2005, when the 16-year tenure of MidAmerica's current president, Dr. Richard Spindle, comes to a close. Robinson will become just the fourth president of MNU, a four-year, Christian liberal arts university founded in 1966 in Olathe.
Dr. Robinson has been a part of the NTS faculty since 1986, currently serving as the Director of the Master of Arts in Christian Education program and as Minister of the Chapel. He served as Dean of the Faculty from 1995-2002.
In the NTS chapel service following Dr. Robinson’s acceptance of his new role, Dr. Roger Hahn, Dean of the Faculty, commented to the student body, “We are excited for MidAmerica; however, at the same time, we mourn this great loss to our NTS family.”
Regarding Dr. Robinson’s impact on the NTS community, NTS President Ron Benefiel shared, “Ed Robinson has made a significant and lasting contribution to the life and mission of Nazarene Theological Seminary. He has been part of the heart and soul of NTS for nearly 20 years. Over those years he has influenced hundreds of students—not only in the classroom, but also in his example of servanthood, academic excellence and Christian discipleship.”
A search for filling the vacancy in the NTS faculty left by Dr. Robinson has already begun.
