Dean of the Faculty Search

Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, a graduate school of theology in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, has opened a search process for the position of Dean of the Faculty, the Chief Academic Officer of the Seminary. After fifteen years of service to NTS as Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Roger Hahn has announced his desire to step down as Dean in June of 2017.  NTS serves as a primary theological resource to the Church of the Nazarene, its sponsoring denomination, and to the wider Christian Church. NTS is a missional community, standing at the crossroads of a rich history and a hopeful future, embodying the redemptive mission of God in a changing context.

The primary duties of the Dean of the Faculty include leadership for the curricular and academic work of the faculty. Administratively, the dean serves as a team leader within the faculty in scholarship and leadership formation. The dean provides supervision for the personnel within the Dean’s Office, including oversight of the Registrar’s Office, the Office of Admissions, and the Seminary Library.

The Dean of the Faculty serves as a public theologian within the Church of the Nazarene and the broader ecumenical Church. As a teaching member of the faculty, the Dean may expect to offer up to three courses annually (a half-time teaching load) in his/her disciplinary area(s), if and as time permits.

Candidates for the position will hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in one of the theological disciplines or related field of study. The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of academic achievement and will demonstrate a high level of experience in educational administrative leadership. He/she will be a member of and an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene.
