McPherson Appointed NTS Dean for Institutional Advancement

Nazarene Theological Seminary is pleased to announce Rev. Tim McPherson as the new Dean for Institutional Advancement.  This is a new position for the Seminary.

“Over the last several months we have been working on a capacity building project which includes the addition of an Office of Institutional Advancement here at NTS,” shared NTS President Dr. Carla Sunberg. “Rev. Tim McPherson brings with him a passion for the institution, as well as a drive for advancement. His nearly 30 years of pastoral experience will no doubt be a huge asset as we build our Office of Institutional Advancement and increase the Seminary’s capacity to prepare more and better preachers and more effectively serve as a resource to the Church. Tim will be working closely with Dr. Jerry Lambert, NTS Director of Development.”

Tim comes to NTS after having served as Pastor at Champion Church of the Nazarene in Warren, OH since 2003.  He has also served in pastoral ministry roles in Uhrichsville, OH; Independence, IA; Athens, OH; Tampa, FL and Greenfield, IN.  He served as District Secretary and Ministerial Credentials Secretary for 9 years in East Ohio, where he also served for 7 years as a member of the District Advisory Board.  His leadership and administrative roles there, and in the other places where he pastored, are extensive.

McPherson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Ministry at Indiana Wesleyan University, and a Master of Ministry degree at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.  He is currently a student in the Master of Divinity degree program at NTS.

“Tim is a dedicated minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a sincere heart for God, the church and the lost,” continued Sunberg.  “He has been recognized for his proficient administration, project management and teamwork leadership style.  We are incredibly excited to add him and his experience to our leadership team here at NTS.”

Tim and his wife Nancy have two sons: Matt, who is a student at Nazarene Theological Seminary living in Kansas City with his wife Lindsay, and Mikey, who is a junior at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
