Missional Theology Summer Course Offering

Hybrid course utilizes online instruction and classroom learning so that participants only need to be in Kansas City for 1 week

Nazarene Theological Seminary will continue studies in missional leadership this summer with another unique, blended class addressing the sources and expressions of missional theology. THE790, Readings in Missional Theology, incorporates strategic use of online instruction and local classroom learning centered in a one week seminar course that features several faculty and guest speakers in missional theology. NTS Professor Dr. Dean Blevins and NTS President Dr. Ron Benefiel planned different aspects of the course which will include interaction with local leaders and special guest faculty like Dr. Lois Barrett, a national leader in the Gospel in our Culture Network, and Methodist theologian Dr. Henry Knight. The course also includes preparatory and follow-up online coursework to allow students an opportunity to reflect and write in the midst of local ministry contexts.

Dr. Blevins notes, "The format, often called a blended or hybrid model, combines the best of online education and local student interaction. Students are able to spend less time away from summer ministry obligations meeting class contact hours; however they do receive the benefit of personally networking with each other and key leaders in the field. This way students utilize NTS's strengths in both distance education and local classroom instruction in a new form of educational social networking."
