Youth Ministry Director

JOB REQUIREMENTS : We are seeking a fervent Christ-follower who is called to youth ministry and ready to give leadership to a growing youth ministry that includes middle and high school aged youth. Family/Children's Pastor

Position: Family/Children’s Pastor or Director

HOURS : Part-time


JOB REQUIREMENTS : Lead our children/family ministry department (ages 0-12), work with parents of children as well as volunteers to give leadership to this segment of our church. 12 “flex” office hours a week, helping collaborate with other church staff and contributing to the overall leadership of the church. Wednesday night church 6pm-8pm and Sunday morning church 9am-12 noon are the required ministry times. Be responsible for these key ministry times to increase volunteer participation and excellence within our children church service and wednesday night programing. Utilize our children’s ministry “Gospel Project curriculum” and other curriculums as needed to provide a healthy Christ-focused learning environment for our kids. This position will be considered for full-time employment upon students graduation from a BA program or MA program from their respective University. Beginning 1099 contract later to be moved to a salaried position after a 6 month probation period. $1,500 per month beginning salary.

10-Week Summer Ministry Intern 

Position/Title: 10-Week Summer Ministry Intern 

HOURS : Full-time 


-June 1 – August 11 -$1,000 stipend (after raising $2,000; or $1,000 room/board cost if you forego the stipend) -All routine expenses paid during internship. -On-site fully-furnished dorms with fast wifi (bring your own bedding) -On-site washer/dryers & laundry detergent provided -All meals provided. -Transportation during internship provided. -We certify you in CPR/First Aid/AED. -Receive 40+ hours in training from licensed counselors, teachers, ministry leaders, day camp experts, doctors, and child behavior experts. -Read/discuss 20 books (all books available in both print and audio formats) throughout internship. Dedicated reading times built into schedule for you to ensure all reading is accomplished. Most books are biographies of great Christian men and women who served God in a variety of creative, out-of-the box ways and continued serving God through many trials. These books are intended to encourage your faith and remind you to be creative in how you follow God. -Serve in a large summer day camp and feeding program created for low-income families. -Oversee youth groups visiting for weekly mission trips. -Lead daily chapels (when not led by youth groups) -Oversee daily computer lab time. -Work on special ‘passion’ projects (planned with lead pastor on things you’d like to spend time learning, developing, etc. such as videography, creating a special ministry action plan, preaching, etc). -Help lead and organize multiple church outreach events. -Assist with pastoral care for day camp families. -Work with lead pastor so that you leave internship with some sort of portfolio of your work to help you with future vocation placement (Example 1: If you’re interested in improving your videography skills, your ‘passion project’ would be to create a large portfolio of day camp and church videos, place them on your personal youtube channel, and show them to any future potential employer. Example 2: If you want to become a good preacher/speaker, work with pastor on creating several sermons you preach in our church. We’ll film them and you upload to your personal youtube channel. Example 3: If you’re interested in starting a new ministry, coordinate with pastor on visits to our nearby ministries that do that type of work, learn from them, then begin assembling an action-plan binder with a step-by-step guide and Ted Talk-esque presentation on how any church can start that ministry. Then show that work to any potential employer to help them see how you can help lead a group of people to start new great works in a community.)

Responsibilities -Each day begins with discussions/devotionals at 6:00am (occasionally, earlier) -First week of internship is a training/orientation week -Our 9- week Summer day camp begins Monday, June 10 and runs 7:30am – 6:00pm, five days/week. -Each intern is out of camp for at least two hours each day to work on reading assignments and ‘passion’ projects. -Breakfast/lunch items provided by church that interns prepare (e.g. ‘Continental’ Breakfast items and sandwich items for lunch). -Hot meals provided in evenings, either by church or eating with a visiting youth group -Interns eat one evening meal each week with a church family.

Must be 18+. Must be fluent in English. Must have current medical insurance (that remains valid throughout entire internship) Must pass background check. Must abide by church’s code of conduct during ENTIRE program (whether on-site or off-site). Must fund raise $2,000 (or $1,000 if you waive the stipend). Must be approved after interviewing with Lead Pastor and Associate Pastor/Camp Director. No educational prerequisites.

Youth Ministry

Position Description


The Director of Youth Ministry works to help fulfill the purpose of Worden United Methodist Church, to be “Prayerfully striving to be Christ like, we extend hope, love, and the message of salvation to all for the Glory of God.”  Specifically, this will be pursued through the planning and implementation of activities and programs for children including group building, discipleship, worship, mission, outreach, and bible study.  The ideal candidate understands the intensity of work required to develop a youth program, is ambitious, possesses strong relational skills, is a self-starter and is passionate about helping students grow in their relationship with Christ.

Reports to: Pastor, Staff-Parish-Relations Team.


As a minimum, a director of children’s ministries needs to demonstrate the following:


●      A personal commitment to Jesus Christ as well as a strong desire to serve within the church             

●      A sense of calling to youth ministry                   

●      Ability to work with youth and the parents of youth                          

●      Excellent verbal and written communication skills                   

●      Ability to plan, organize, lead, and guide complex projects and spontaneous activities related to youth ministries                          

●      Competence in basic counseling and listening skills appropriate for youth ministry

●      Willingness to work cooperatively with others, to maintain a positive outlook and disposition, and to be flexible in solving problems                      

●      The ability to protect the reputation and integrity of others through strict confidentiality.  Refraining from indiscriminately sharing personal information is critical.  Discretion must be exercised when dealing with the public, youth and their parents, and the church’s leaders and members                         

●      Complete and maintain a current “Safe Gathering” Certificate                      

●      A minimum age of 25

●      Proficient with computer knowledge and applications

●      Musical ability is a plus, but optional

●     Transportation- must possess a valid driver’s license


  1. Weekly attendance during worship at Worden UMC is required.           
  2. Attend scheduled staff meetings
  3. Make sure that volunteers for youth events have Safe Gatherings Certification
  4. Coordinate all aspects of the Junior High and Senior High Youth Group:
    1. Host and lead activities for Senior High Youth four times per month
      1. one week - service/mission related activity
      2. one week - social activity
      3. two weeks - spiritual focus
    2. Host and lead activities for junior high Youth twice per month:
      1. one week - service/mission and/or social activity
      2. one week - spiritual focus
    3. Organizing and leading youth mission trips
  5. Weekly office hours need to be posted for at least 2 hours
  6. Other duties as assigned
