It's All About Our Students...
In order that we might meet the challenges ahead and take full advantage of the opportunities before us, members of our Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and student body have worked together in recent months to identify key areas of need within our community. The critical issues identified in this strategic planning process were:
- STUDENT HOUSING: Currently our students must find their own housing when they move to Kansas City; this means that our students are spread throughout the larger metro area and are often in the city several weeks before making a solid connection to the NTS community.
- ACADEMIC FACILITIES: NTS has occupied the same facilities for more than 50 years; as a result, buildings are stretched to their limits and future growth potential is limited.
- COST: The cost of education is ever-growing; so much so that traditional sources of income and support are not able to keep pace. There is a growing need to offer more scholarships to more students in order to assist future ministers with keeping educational debt to a minimum.
- ACCESSIBILITY AND COLLABORATION: The demand for providing distance education options is increasing every tear. In addition, there is growing need for NTS to work with sister educational institutions around the world in offering graduate-level theological training to new pastors and future church leaders.
In order to address these needs, our Board of Trustees, President and administration have established the NTS Journey of Faith, a campaign with a goal of raising $10 million over the next 3 years (2008-2011) and in the future.
