Certificate in Chaplaincy
This certificate provides a specialized introduction to the diverse types and nature of chaplaincy ministry including on-site participation in chaplaincy ministry. The certificate was developed in cooperation with the Office of Chaplaincy Services of the Church of the Nazarene. Admission is limited to students either currently enrolled in the MDiv program or who have already earned an MDiv or its equivalent. Completion of the Certificate does not constitute ecclesiastical endorsement for chaplaincy ministry.
Certificate in Christian Discipleship
The Certificate in Christian Discipleship provides a non-degree focused study in the field of Christian Education for lay and professional ministers seeking to expand their abilities in discipleship practices for parish and church-related ministries. Courses are developed in consultation with the MACE Degree Director.
Certificate in Church Planting
This certificate is offered as a part of the NTS School of World Mission and Evangelism. The program is coordinated by NTS, the USA/Canada Mission Evangelism Division for the Church of the Nazarene, and the Kansas City District of the Church of the Nazarene. Its purpose is to provide graduate level classroom instruction and on-site experience in church planting. The program places students under the supervision of accomplished church planters and in leadership roles in a church planting project.
Certificate in Cross-Cultural Ministries
The Division of World Mission and the USA/Canada Mission/Evangelism Office of the Church of the Nazarene, who regularly assign persons to missionary service on a short-term basis, has partnered with the School of World Mission and Evangelism at NTS to develop this certificate. This certificate is designed to meet the needs of the short-term missionary volunteer.
Certificate in Lay Ministries
This certificate is designed to provide foundational education in biblical studies, theology, evangelism, spiritual formation, and the history of the Church of the Nazarene to equip persons for effective lay ministry in the church. The certificate meets the theology requirements for the lay ministry credential in the Church of the Nazarene.
Certificate in Missional Leadership and Discipleship
This certificate requires 15 semester hours in missional leadership, missional theology, and other courses approved by faculty advisement.
Certificate in Pastoral Counseling
The Certificate in Pastoral Counseling is limited to students currently enrolled in the MDiv program. It provides focused training for pastors desiring to enhance their counseling skills and increase their knowledge of the relational, emotional and psychological needs of the people with whom they minister.
Certificate in Spiritual Formation
This certificate is a course of study for pastoral or lay ministers of spiritual nurture and can be earned independent of or in conjunction with an NTS degree.
Certificate in Urban Youth Ministry
Providing a non-degree focused study for lay workers and professional ministers, this certificate helps to expand abilities in discipleship practices to and with youth in urban or similar contexts. Courses are selected in consultation with the MACE Degree Director.
Diploma in Diaconal Ministry
Diploma in Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry, Adult Ministry or Family Ministry
