Admission to the Certificate and Diploma Programs - To be admitted to one of the Certificate or Diploma programs a person must satisfy the criteria for admission. Work done to fulfill Certificate and Diploma requirements can be applied to one of the master's degrees.
Certificate in Church Planting

The certificate in Church Planting is offered as a part of the Seminary's School of World Mission and Evangelism. The certificate program is coordinated by NTS, the Division of Church Growth for the Church of the Nazarene, and the Kansas City District of the Church of the Nazarene.
The purpose of the Certificate in Church Planting is to provide carefully designed graduate level classroom instruction and on-site experience in church planting. It introduces students to diverse models and methodologies of church planting. The Certificate distinctively places students under the supervision of accomplished church planters and places them in leadership roles in a carefully executed church planting project.
The Certificate in Church Planting is a 13 hour course of study.
Certificate in Chaplaincy Ministries

The Certificate in Chaplaincy Ministries requires the completion of 12 semester hours. It provides a specialized introduction to the diverse types and nature of chaplaincy ministry and on-site participation in chaplaincy ministry. The Chaplaincy Ministries Certificate was developed in cooperation with the office of Chaplaincy Ministries of the Church of the Nazarene. Admission to the program is limited to students either currently enrolled in the M.Div. program, or who have already earned an M.Div. or its equivalent.
Certificate in Lay Ministries

The Certificate in Lay Ministries program consists of 12 - 13 semester hours and is designed to provide foundational education in biblical studies, theology, evangelism, spiritual formation, and the history of the Church of the Nazarene. The Certificate aims at helping to equip persons for lay ministry in the church. The Certificate meets the theology requirements for the lay ministry credential in the Church of the Nazarene.
Certificate in Cross-Cultural Ministries

The Division of World Mission of the Church of the Nazarene and the Division of Church Growth regularly assign some persons to missionary service on a short-term basis. As professionals in given areas of expertise, these volunteers are assigned to specific needs or projects. In all instances the volunteers work in situations that require sensitivity to the dynamics of a cross-cultural setting and a basic knowledge of missiology theory and practice.
The School of World Mission and Evangelism of NTS, in cooperation with the Division of World Mission and the Division of Church Growth, has developed a Certificate in Cross-Cultural Ministries designed to meet the needs of the short-term missionary volunteer. The Certificate consists of 11 hours and can be completed in one semester.
Diploma in Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry or Adult Ministry

The age level diplomas are designed to serve persons who are currently serving as age level ministers or who anticipate becoming age level ministers. The diploma may be earned as a component of a Master of Religious Education degree or Master of Divinity degree. It is also available to persons not pursuing an NTS degree and who do not anticipate a full-time ministry career. The age level diplomas are composed of 25 semester hours and can be completed in a single academic year.
