Best Practices: Youth Ministry

Wednesday nights our High School students meet in groups that are focused around three general areas in which students express their gifts.  They are Creative (Creative arts), Service (Compassion, Social Justice, Hospitality), and Leisure (Sports, Gamers, those that just like to hang out).  Each group meets in a home every Wednesday night around the questions of “Where is God already working in our community?” and “How is He calling us to be a part of His work?”  Once a month the groups leave the home and participates in serving the community through various aspects.  The other weeks they dive into scripture discovering what the word says about the Kingdom of God.  The focus of these groups is to nurture an atmosphere of “being a part” rather than solely offering a time of strict knowledge-based learning.
