NAZARENE THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY
ARTICLE I (NAME)
The Association shall be known as the Nazarene Theological Seminary (NTS) Alumni Association.
ARTICLE II (PURPOSE)
The purpose of the Association shall be: (1) to bind the Alumni into a unit of influence to be exerted for the advancement and development of NTS; (2) to cultivate and perpetuate individual acquaintance and friendship.
ARTCILE III (MEMBERSHIP)
SECTION 1. Membership in the Association shall include all those who have received credit for at least one course at NTS but are not members of the student body in the current year,
SECTION 2. Or have received an honorary degree from NTS,
SECTION 3. Or are present or past members of the faculty or staff,
SECTION 4. Or are present or past members of the Board of Trustees.
ARTICLE IV (MEETINGS)
SECTION 1. There shall be an annual meeting of the Executive Committee of the Association.
SECTION 2. A meeting of the Association shall be held at the time and place of the General Assembly.
SECTION 3. Special meetings shall be held only upon call of the Executive Committee of the Association.
SECTION 4. All members present and voting at the annual meeting shall constitute a quorum.
ARTICLE V (OFFICERS, EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, aka ALUMNI COUNCIL)
SECTION 1. The officers of the Association shall be a President, a Vice President, and one Member‐at‐Large from each USA/Canada educational region, all of whom shall hold earned degrees from NTS. These officers, along with the Seminary President and the Director of Alumni Relations, shall constitute the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association.
SECTION 2. The election of the officers of the Association shall take place quadrennially on the year of the General Assembly. The officers shall serve for the ensuing quadrennium or until their successors are elected and qualified.
SECTION 3. Nominations shall be made by a Nominating Committee appointed by the Executive Committee during the same year of the General Assembly. The Nominating Committee shall consist of five members holding degrees from NTS, no two of whom may belong to the same graduating class, and none of whom shall belong to the Executive Committee.
SECTION 4. A President may serve for two terms and on the second term may be elected by a yes‐no ballot. For the election of a new President there shall be three (3) nominations, none of who may be members of the faculty. The person receiving the highest number of votes shall be declared President.
SECTION 5. A Vice President may serve for two terms and on the second term may be elected by a yes‐no ballot. For the election of a new Vice President there shall be three (3) nominations, none of whom may be members of the faculty. The person with the highest number of votes shall be declared Vice President.
SECTION 6. There shall be two (2) nominations for each of the Regional Members‐at‐Large. The person receiving the highest number of votes for each region shall be declared elected.
SECTION 7. In the event of a vacancy in any office during the quadrennium, a special mail vote of the Association upon nomination by the Nominating Committee may be held to fill the vacancy.
ARTICLE VI (TRUSTEE)
The President of the Alumni Association is an ex‐officio member of the Board of Trustees.
ARTICLE VII (CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS)
This constitution may be amended or revised as follows: An amendment shall be introduced at an annual meeting of the Executive Committee and if approved by a majority of those voting, shall be submitted to the Seminary’s Board of Trustees for preliminary approval. Once approved by the Board of Trustees, it shall be submitted to the Association for its approval via a mail ballot. Any prior actions based upon the amendment or amendments shall be subject to this final adoption.
