KATHY MOWRY

KATHY MOWRY has been Professor of Intercultural Studies and Christian Education at Trevecca Nazarene University since 2007.  Prior to her time at Trevecca, she held pastoral roles in urban multicultural congregations in California, directed graduate programs for the Bresee Institute for Urban Training, served as a missionary with her husband Jon in Russia and Ukraine, and created and directed a program of theological training for pastors across the countries of the former Soviet Union.  At Trevecca, she leads the major in Intercultural Studies as well as teaching in the Social Justice program. She enjoys consulting with congregations who are seeking to engage transitional neighborhoods and creating formative mission experiences for students preparing for the unique challenges of ministry in today’s world.  Kathy completed the BA at Trevecca Nazarene University, an MA in Educational Ministries at Wheaton, and an MA and PhD in Intercultural Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary, where she was the 2011 recipient of the McGavran Award for Missiology.  A frequent speaker at conferences, churches, and district events, she has also authored numerous articles in church publications and professional journals.   

Kathy will be the Presenter in Session 2 on Thursday morning.
