A commitment to Christian higher education and a desire to provide students opportunity to realize their full potential and make a difference in our world were passions of Frank Hyson. As a result, he and his wife, Dolores, have aided countless students through their support of Nazarene higher education, including graduate theological education at NTS.
Frank began his life as a ward of the state of New Jersey where he was raised by a Christian foster mother. After graduating from high school, Frank joined the U. S. Navy. After completing his tour of duty, he returned to New Jersey where he met Dolores. However, Dolores would not agree to date a non-Christian, so Frank began attending the Church of the Nazarene in Pittman NJ; it was there that Frank accepted Christ, married Dolores and began an adventure that spanned more than 50 years.
Education, especially Christian higher education, has always been very important to the Hysons. Although Frank passed away in 2006, he left a testimony to the grace and goodness of God and a legacy of generously investing in the lives of others through his support of Nazarene education and the scholarship endowments he and Dolores established.
Frank’s favorite scripture is from the book of Jeremiah, chapter 29, verse 11. “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
IN HONOR AND LOVING MEMORY OF FRANK, DOLORES RECENTLY ESTABLISHED THE FRANK HYSON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND AT NTS. WE ARE GRATEFUL TO THE HYSONS FOR THEIR INVESTMENT IN NAZARENE THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY AND FOR PARTNERING WITH THOSE CALLED TO PASTORAL MINISTRY. THANK YOU!
